Black and White Custom Kitchen — Bold High-Contrast Design, Vancouver Island

A bold and elegant kitchen renovation for a Nanaimo homeowner who had a clear vision — crisp white upper cabinets to keep the space light and airy, paired with striking black lower cabinets to ground the design with weight and drama. The result is a kitchen that feels simultaneously timeless and thoroughly contemporary.

Adrianna extended the cabinetry fully to the ceiling, eliminating the awkward gap that ages so many kitchens and maximising every inch of storage. Under-cabinet lighting was installed to add warmth from below, softening the high-contrast palette and highlighting the work surfaces beautifully.

One of the more technically demanding elements of this project was fabricating the angled laminate countertop in a single seamless piece — a challenge that required precise coordination between the designer, cabinet installer, and countertop fabricator. The end result is a kitchen that looks effortlessly elegant and completely intentional, from floor to ceiling.
